The link between 8th wonder of the world and health + Ingredient highlight-Beets

Hello Reader

Food for Thought

According to Albert Einstein,

“Compound interest is the EIGHTH wonder of the world. He who understands it, earns it; he who doesn't, pays it."

The gist of this quote in the context of attaning our goals is that when we do a small action, positive or negative, over a period of long time we reap much bigger reward or negative result (depending on the action), compared to if we do that action inconsistently or don't do it for long-enough to experience the rewards.

Two things are important here: CONSISTENT SMALL ACTION & TIME.

For example, walking 20 minutes a day may not make a dent in our health goals, but doing it every day adds up to 122 hours of walking time in a year and 1,220 hours in ten years. Similarly, replacing just one unhealthy meal per day would add up to 365 healthy meals in a year and 3,650 meals in 10 years.

THE LAW WORKS IN REVERSE AS WELL

For example, one serving of soda, which contains 10 teaspoons of sugar may not feel like a lot of sugar in a day. But over the course of one year, just one soda per day would add up to consuming 76 CUPS of sugar.

Similarly, one sedentary day may feel harmless, but adding it over a period of time can become a LOT OF SENDENTARY DAYS.

TIP: Add a positive action that would help you get closer to your health (or other) goals or remove a action that gets negative results.

A possitive action: do it consistently in small increments (everyday, five times a week, etc.) over a period of time.

A negative action: remove consistently in small increments over a period of time.

Ingredient Highlight: Beets

Ingredients are the building blocks of a recipe. A healthy ingredient makes a recipe healthy and vice versa.

This week I am shining light on BEETS, which are currently in the season.
